About Me

Dr. Ingrid L. Montgomery

MD, MPH, PLLC

Dr. Montgomery has been recognized as a Top Doctor in Pearl River, New York in 2020 and 2022. In 2022, Ingrid L. Montgomery MD MPH PLLC became a Certified Women Business Enterprise (WBE) by the New York State Department of Economic Development, Division of Minority and Women Business Development (DMWBD).
Dr. Montgomery is a Board-Certified Psychiatrist licensed in New York, California, and New Jersey. She provides care to Children starting at age 12, Adolescents (13 and up) and Adults (18 and up). Dr. Montgomery provides an Evidence-Based Approach to Mental & Physical wellness. She provides medication management and oversees a team of therapist providing different modalities of therapy including but not limited to: CBT, DBT, Exposure Therapy, Supportive, IPT and Addiction/Substance Use Recovery.
Dr. Montgomery has been in private practice since 2016 and has worked for the State of New York, Office of Mental Health, caring for those institutionalized with serious chronic mental illnesses.
About Me
Dr. Montgomery obtained her Associate and Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degrees and worked as a Registered Nurse in the ICU, Medical -Surgical, and Psychiatric Areas. Her passion for medicine, specifically the field of psychiatry, led her to obtain a Masters in Public Health Degree-concentration in Behavioral Health. Because of her dedication to the field of medicine, Dr. Montgomery went on to medical school and obtain her Doctorate in Medicine from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. After graduating medical school, Dr. Montgomery moved to New York to complete her required residency training in General Adult Psychiatry at Albert Einstein College of Medicine affiliated with Montefiore Medical Center and Bronx Psychiatric Center. Dr. Montgomery completed an additional year of training, a fellowship, specializing in Forensic Psychiatry. She obtained a Certificate of Completion in Forensic Psychiatry in 2015. She has been qualified by the New York State Supreme Court as an Expert Witness in the Field of Psychiatry.
Dr. Montgomery has held the position of Adjunct Clinical Professor of Forensic Psychiatry at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine where she provided clinical supervision and educational training to Psychiatry Residents of Garnet Health System in Middletown, New York (affiliated with Touro Medical College) and Forensic Psychiatry Fellows (affiliated with Columbia University). Most recently, Dr. Montgomery joined Rockland Community College (located in Rockland County, NY) as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychology.
Dr. Montgomery has served as a Preceptor for the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program at Chamberlain College of Nursing. Overseeing research projects and providing medical education to Nurse Practitioners pursuing their Doctorate in Nursing.
Dr. Montgomery is a member of several associations: American Psychiatric Association, American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, American Association of Psychiatry and Law, the Black Psychiatrist of Greater New York, and the American Medical Association.
Dr. Montgomery is a member of the Pearl River Rotary Club in Pearl River, New York. In addition, she is a member of the Orangetown Substance Abuse Committee in Orangetown, New York.
In 2023, she was elected as a Member of the Board of Directors of Loeb House, Inc. which provides supportive community housing opportunities to individuals with special needs.
Dr. Montgomery is also a member of the International Association of Music and Medicine. She enjoys the art of medicine and uses her love and gift as a musician to bring people of all spheres together as a common means of coping through life challenges and healing for the mind and body.
Dr. Montgomery embraces the essence of healing arts nationally. She is also the Medical Director for the esteemed Drama Therapy Program provided by Educational Theatre Institute located in Los Angeles, CA.
In her spare time, she is a professional musician and performer-providing awareness and education about self-care and prevention of mental illness through her music. In 2021, Dr. Montgomery (also known as The RealTalk MD) wrote and produced two songs, M.A.C.E and Power both on Apple Music. Her music is empowering and provides therapy to the soul and hope for the hopeless.
Currently, Dr. Montgomery devotes her time solely to my private practice, educating the community on the prevention and management of mental illness, and promoting substance use recovery. In her spare time, she cultivates her passion as a music artist and entertainer.
